I Want…

pedihelmetThis, courtesy of Improbable Research.

The good folks doing medical research have invented this lovely headset for delivery of nitrous oxide to pediatric patients.

How much could a frantic mom do with a Nintendo-style, kid-friendly unit that

“provides a calming influence over the children, monitors the child continuously, allows the procedure to be performed by less skilled personnel, increases the speed with which procedures can be performed and makes the procedure a less stressful experience for all involved.  Each headset can be used multiple times per day by replacing the disposable components contained in the disposable kit.”

The multiple times a day part is the part I find really cool.

Yeah, I'd definitely say this plays well into the hand of the mid-level provider.

That kid in the picture looks pretty damn happy about it. I wonder if she knows she's going to be treated by "less skilled personnel".

Does it come with a remote? So I can activate it from across the room?

[Reply]

Does "less skilled personnel" include stay at home moms who can't take any more of the bickering?

I found that making small children drag rocks from one flowerbed to another is a GREAT bickering deterrent, BTW. "You! One bucket full! Now!"

I think you should definitely run a "give away" contest on you blog. Imagine the possibilities.
