It may not be my fault, but listening to my girls go at it makes me want to put my head through the drywall. At least it would muffle the noise.

We've had the bickering start a year or so again and nothing physical. My Hubs has a gazillion stories of himself and three older brothers. His parents used to say, "Take it outside"! Our boys have heard Hubs' stories of how each brother ended up physically larger to the next eldest so I am seeing that my two older sons are not picking on my youngest son!

If my kids had t-rex jaws, I'm fairly certain our family would be significantly smaller. They will fight about anything. I suppose my sister and I were the same growing up, yet we get along great now...save for a few emotional scars she's still tending to. Let's just say I had the larger jaw.

My father still won't take long road trips with me and my brother, and we're grown adults. He's that traumatized by all the backseat bickering. I completely buy your head-bop theory.

I fought with my sister, and my kids fight. I guess it's hereditary.

It's part of growing up, learning to handle conflict in both good and bad ways, and gaining experience as to what works and what doesn't.

I hope.

My daughter is some nine years older than my six-year-old (who is four years older than my baby).. Since my six-year-old doesn't talk, he really doesn't fight much with either sibling. I may avoid much of it because the eldest is so much older than the younger two, but I expect the younger two will eventually fight quite a bit.

However, children are still more cruel to each other than I can fathom.

I can say from observing my triplets that the boys definitely resort to physical measures more often. The girl just sits down and cries knowing someone will come rescue her usually. I try to teach her to grab 'it' back, whatever they stole, but I can't make her aggressive. Perhaps I should be glad there's one non-aggressive one in the pack. It is shocking how early they get started in the wanting to kick each other's butts though....
